Institute Seeks Intern Positions for Colorado Students
Institute Seeks Intern Positions for Colorado Students Institute Seeks Intern Positions for Colorado Students Institute Seeks Intern Positions for Colorado Students The Pinhead Institute, a non-profit Smithsonian Affiliate based in Telluride, Colo., that provides STEM opportunities for students in rural southwestern Colorado, is currently seeking summer internship positions for high-school students from the region who are interested in mechanical, aeronautical and materials engineering. Through one of its flagship programs, the PinheadInternship, the organization identifies highly qualified high school juniors and finds six- to ten-week internships for them to serve the summer prior to their senior year. After finding mentors for the students, Pinhead then secures host housing for the students and provides them with a stipend for travel and living expenses. Since 2003, the internship program has provided students with the opportunity to acquire practical skills and experience in a variety of scientific fields of study, including math, physics, conservation, chemistry, and biology. Past Pinhead Interns have gone on to study at Harvard and Yale Universities, and students who participated in last summer's program have been accepted at Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Columbia, Princeton and Brown. If you can provide an internship at your company or organization this summer, please contact Sarah Holbrooke, executive director of the Pinhead Institute, at sarah@pinheadinstitute.org.
